.A LITTLE ABOUT US
We are a family of 3 me Sam (Samantha on a Sunday!) my husband Ian our 9 year old daughter Katie
and of course our dogs

We are located in East Yorkshire in a small village around 20 Min's of the M62 and in 2008 after 10
years of saving where lucky enough to find our dream home a small 5 acre farm on the outskirts of
our village. It had gone to rack and ruin being empty for years. But we could see from the first time we
came it was our dream home. Huge outdoor space and sheep for neighbours its doggy heaven. Its a
labour of love but we are getting there and having all this space for the dogs and Katie is just
amazing. We have owned Gundog breeds for over 10 years and started breeding with a litter of
English Springer Spaniels in 2001 and that was it we was hooked!
We also run a small garden centre in the village which pays the mortgage and working for ourselves is
ideal for being with the dogs someone is always home

To say Ian is a keen shooter is an understatement. He loves working the dogs out in the field and likes
nothing more than seeing a working Spaniel or Lab out retrieving. On the other hand me and Katie
adore the doodle breeds i was amazed in how popular they were becoming. The more i looked in to
the crosses and then finally dared to try a litter what a fantastic experience. They have all the qualities
of the pedigree mothers but with such a amazing coat type and more often than not a steadier nature.
So we tend to do a mix of full pedigree Spaniels Labradors etc and doodle breeds.
(depending who wins Usually me and Katie!)
If there are no planned litters from our girls or anything available. Please still drop me an email through via the contact page more often
than not i will know of a litter somewhere.
I have made a little checklist with some helpful tips and hints if you are looking for a puppy below.

Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions a good breeder will be happy to give you all the help and advice you need.

Ask to see the Mother of the litter and the litter mates its also nice to see the father if he is available. Although many people use stud
dogs they should still have pictures/details of the father and copies of all his paper work.

Take the time to research the breed you are looking for. Look into what health tests the breed should have. The Kennel club have a
fantastic new tool that allows you to check the health tests and results for all kc reg dogs just click on
Kennel Club Health Test Search
and write the kennel club name of the dog you would like to check. If you just email or call the breeder and ask the kc name of the
parents.

All good breeders will have a least some form of puppy back. Which should include the food the puppy is eating and a diet sheet/
worming record etc and back up advice should you need help once you have your new puppy home.

But the main advice i would give is to listen to your instincts. All puppies are cute its so easy to go and see i litter and deep down have a
feeling all is not as it should be and still not be able to leave the cute puppy behind!
But look around ask to see where all there dogs live. Do the kennels look well kept and ALL the dogs look healthy. Do they have plenty
of room to live in and nice big runs and fresh water.

Look at the parents breeding. Make sure they are not related to each other. Also check each of the parents to make sure they don't
have the same dog in there pedigree again and again.

I have seen breeders that sound great all lovely pictures and well bred dogs. But in reality they live with double figures all crammed in a
tiny terrace with a garden the size of a postage stamp. Multiple dogs in each tiny pen with no real quality of life.

Then i have met ladies like the lovely Mary where we got our first wonderful English Springer Spaniel from. Just a normal lady with a
lovely family and a love and care for her dogs that shows in every single puppy she raises.

For every bad breeder there will be many good, people who go that extra mile to ensure they breed the best puppy they can from dogs
they love and take the best care of.

I have put some wesbites below that have lots of information to look at. Some details about health testing, puppy farms, also some clubs
and sites i have found to be full of helpful information and people for there individual breeds.
